Israel’s Aggression in the Middle East: The Urgent Need to Stop Supporting Zionist Expansionism

The Middle East is once again engulfed in flames as Israel launched airstrikes against Iran on June 13, 2025, further destabilizing an already volatile region. This latest act of aggression is not an isolated incident but part of a long-standing pattern of Zionist expansionism, backed by Western powers, particularly the United States. For decades, Israel has justified its military campaigns under the guise of "self-defense," while simultaneously being the primary aggressor in the region. The time has come for the world to wake up and recognize the truth: Israel is not a victim but a perpetrator of violence, and its continued belligerence threatens global peace.

This article will dismantle three key myths that sustain Western support for Israeli aggression:

  1. The False Narrative of Israel’s "Right to Defend Itself"
  2. The Dangerous Religious Myth of Jewish Exceptionalism
  3. The Geopolitical Strategy to Weaken the Middle East

By the end of this piece, it will be clear that supporting Israel’s actions is not only morally indefensible but also a grave threat to international stability.

1. The Hypocrisy of Israel’s "Right to Defend Itself"

One of the most overused—and misleading—phrases in modern geopolitics is Israel’s claim that it has a "right to defend itself." Of course, every nation has the right to self-defense. Palestine has that right. Iran has that right. Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, and even Kenya have that right. But when Israel invokes this mantra, it is not talking about defense—it is justifying aggression.

A State Born from Colonial Aggression

The modern state of Israel was not born out of peaceful coexistence but through violent dispossession. In 1947, Britain, in collaboration with Zionist leaders, imposed a colonial project on Palestinian land, forcibly displacing hundreds of thousands of indigenous Arabs in what Palestinians call the Nakba (Catastrophe). This was not self-defense; it was ethnic cleansing.

Since then, Israel has:

  • Expanded illegally into Palestinian territories through settlements (a war crime under international law).
  • Enforced a brutal blockade on Gaza, turning it into an open-air prison.
  • Conducted numerous military campaigns (2006 Lebanon War, 2008-2009 Gaza War, 2014 Gaza War, 2021 Gaza bombing) that disproportionately killed civilians.
  • Assassinated scientists and military officials in Iran, Syria, and Lebanon.

If Israel were truly acting in self-defense, why does it consistently initiate attacks? Why does it occupy land that does not belong to it? Why does it reject every peace proposal that includes Palestinian sovereignty?

The U.S. Backing of Israeli Aggression

The United States, Israel’s chief benefactor, provides billions in military aid annually, ensuring that Israel remains the dominant military power in the region. This is not about defense—it is about maintaining hegemony. The U.S. uses Israel as a proxy to control Middle Eastern oil, suppress Arab nationalism, and counter Iran’s influence.

When the U.S. and Israel label resistance movements like Hamas or Hezbollah as "terrorists," they ignore the root cause of the conflict: occupation. Nelson Mandela once said, "We know too well that our freedom is incomplete without the freedom of the Palestinians." Why does the West refuse to see this?

2. Debunking the Myth of Jewish Exceptionalism: The Dangerous Role of Christian Zionism

In his book Homo Deus, Yuval Noah Harari argues that we live in a secularized world where traditional religions no longer dominate politics. But the reality in the Middle East proves otherwise. Israel’s aggression is fueled not just by Zionist ideology but also by Christian fundamentalism, particularly in the U.S.

The Evangelical Belief in "God’s Chosen People"

Millions of American Evangelicals believe that modern Israel is the fulfillment of biblical prophecy. They argue that Jews are "God’s chosen people," that Israel must control all of "Judea and Samaria" (the West Bank), and that supporting Israel accelerates the Second Coming of Christ.

This belief is not only theologically flawed but also morally bankrupt.

  • The Bible Never Justifies Ethnic Cleansing: Nowhere does scripture command the displacement of Palestinians. In fact, the Old Testament repeatedly condemns oppression (Isaiah 1:17, Micah 6:8).
  • Christianity Rejects Tribal Superiority: Galatians 3:28 states, "There is neither Jew nor Gentile... for you are all one in Christ Jesus." If God’s grace extends to all, why do Christian Zionists act as if Jews are entitled to special privileges, including the right to kill and displace others?
  • The Dangerous Consequences: This theology has real-world effects. It blinds Western Christians to Palestinian suffering, justifies apartheid, and encourages endless war.

Humanism or Hypocrisy?

If we truly lived in a humanist world, we would judge Israel by the same standards as every other nation. Yet, when Israel bombs civilians, the West rushes to justify it. When Iran or Palestine retaliates, they are labeled as terrorists.

This double standard is not secular humanism—it is religiously motivated imperialism.

3. The Geopolitics of the Middle East: The Hyena is at the Door

There is a Swahili proverb: "Fisi akimla mwele, mzima funga lango." (When the hyena is eating your sick neighbor, lock your door before it comes for you.)

The Middle East is being systematically dismantled:

  • Afghanistan: Destroyed by 20 years of U.S. occupation.
  • Iraq: Invaded in 2003 under false pretenses about weapons of mass destruction, leading to chaos.
  • Libya: Bombed by NATO in 2011, now a failed state.
  • Syria & Yemen: Torn apart by Western-backed wars.

Israel benefits from this chaos. A weak Middle East means no united resistance against its expansion.

Who is Next?

Saudi Arabia has been lulled into complacency with normalization deals. But make no mistake—if Israel weakens Iran, the next target will be Saudi Arabia, then Egypt, then others.

"Mwenzako akinyolewa, chako kitie maji." (When your neighbor is being shaved, wet your own head—you’re next.)

The world must recognize that Israel is not defending itself—it is executing a long-term plan of regional domination.

Conclusion: Justice Must Prevail

The attacks on Iran are not about security—they are about power. Israel, backed by the U.S., seeks to control the Middle East through violence while silencing dissent with accusations of anti-Semitism.

But we must resist.

  • Boycott companies that support Israeli apartheid.
  • Protest Western governments funding this aggression.
  • Educate others on the truth of Palestine and Iran.

The time for blind support is over. The hyena is at the door. Will we act before it’s too late?

Free Palestine. End Israeli Aggression. No More Wars for Zionism.

Roll One

Chwa found Bandia sitting on the concrete slabs that formed the stairway for the door leading into the house. Bandia's eyes were red, comprehensive, and lazy, indicating that he had taken some puffs of  weed . They greeted each other with a moderate meeting of fists, and then Chwa sat beside his brother. After staring at the empty vicinity momentarily, Chwa began, "Bandia, it's time I started taking  weed . I used to think I could pass this tough life with a sober mind, but now I feel it has stretched me to my limits. I feel downtrodden. I need something that can energize me. I need something that can make me active again. Nothing is happening in my life. It's as if someone buried my luck in an abyss." Bandia smiled sceptically at his innocent older brother. Then he responded, " weed  does not energize or activate people the way you think. It makes time pass quickly and abnormally indulges you in an activity. It makes farmers till without noticing this scorc...

The Visitor

David woke up quite late this morning - 7:31 AM to be precise. The weather was cold, and he would have loved staying in bed. Unfortunately, life is life; one has to get up and face it.  His love for physical exercise was one thing that often amazed others. He showed no greater commitment to anything in this world than his dedication to exercise. A few months ago, he had rejected a good opportunity that promised to double his earnings on the basis that he wouldn't have time for workouts. Nothing was more valuable to him than the work-life balance that Kisumu offered. At his age, he knew that only a substantial offer would lure him away from Kisumu.  The only thing on his mind now was doing two hundred reverse lunges and coupling them with several other calisthenic techniques. He cleared space for the workout, removed his vest, and wore only his shorts. David walked confidently to the center of the space, placed his hands on his waist, and started doing reverse lunge...

Revisiting Gender Discussions: Embracing the Biological Perspective

T he discussions surrounding gender should become increasingly complex since the focus on social constructions stifles conflicting perspectives and evolving ideologies. Despite neglecting conflicting perspectives , one prevailing issue emerges—role confusion. Over the years, the feminist movement has championed the cause of gender equality, advocating for women's rights and dismantling archaic stereotypes. Yet, despite strides made in education, employment, and social recognition, a significant portion of women seems hesitant to embrace roles historically attributed to men. T here remains a palpable reluctance among women to ascend to roles traditionally associated with men, particularly that of the provider or breadwinner. This phenomenon raises profound questions about the prevailing social construction perspective on gender . It signals that there could be more to the explanation of this gender phenomenon. Probably, it is time to seriously consider the biological pers...
